Privacy Policy

This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you use NME Account, and the choices available to you.

1. About this policy

NME Networks Pte. Ltd. (“we”, “us” or “our”) is responsible for the personal information used to provide NME Account. This policy covers your account, subscriptions and the connected features we provide across NME, MusicTech and Guitar.com. Our contact and registered details appear below.

The editorial websites are operated by NME Networks Media Limited and have their own privacy and cookie notices. Those notices explain how information is used when you browse their websites or use services outside NME Account.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you give us when you register, update your profile, subscribe or contact us. This includes your name, email address, account preferences and correspondence. Optional profile information is identified as such.

If you subscribe, we receive billing information and records of your subscription, payments and invoices from our payment provider. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider; we do not store your full card number or security code in your account.

When you use connected features, we receive information about that activity, such as saved content, contributions and preferences. Contributions you choose to publish may be visible to other readers.

We also collect technical and usage information, including account or device identifiers, IP addresses, approximate location, browser information, sign-in records and interactions with our services. Some information is collected automatically or received from participating websites and service providers. Optional browsing analytics are subject to your privacy choices.

3. How and why we use information

We use your information to provide and secure your account, sign you in across our websites, manage subscriptions and payments, deliver the features you use and respond to your enquiries. We send service messages such as verification codes, receipts and important subscription notices.

We also use relevant information to maintain and improve our services, understand their use, determine which features are available to you, report on subscription activity, prevent fraud and misuse, meet legal obligations and resolve complaints or disputes. Optional analytics and marketing follow your choices and applicable consent requirements.

Where UK or EEA data protection law applies, we rely on our contract with you to provide account and subscription services; legal obligations for required records and disclosures; and legitimate interests to secure, maintain and administer the service, prevent abuse and understand subscription activity. We consider your rights when relying on legitimate interests. We rely on consent for optional analytics and marketing where required. Where Singapore law applies, we rely on consent, deemed consent or an applicable statutory exception, as appropriate.

4. How we share information

We share the information needed to connect your account with participating websites, including your identity, preferences and subscription status. Their operator uses it to provide the account features and benefits available to you. Your payment card credentials are not shared with those websites.

We use service providers for account management, hosting, payment processing, email delivery, customer support and service measurement. They receive information relevant to their role and are subject to appropriate data protection obligations. Payment providers may also use information for their own legal, fraud prevention or regulatory purposes under their privacy notices.

We may share relevant information with professional advisers, authorities where legally required, or parties involved in a business sale or reorganisation, with appropriate protections. We do not sell your account information.

5. Cookies, analytics and communications

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, protect your account, remember your preferences and provide subscription features. Blocking necessary storage may prevent parts of the service from working.

With your permission, we use optional analytics to understand how people use account features and connected content, including visits before sign-in. These may use account or device identifiers and limited interaction information. You can change your choice through Cookie preferences at any time.

Separate from optional browsing analytics, we use limited account or device information to check feature availability and subscription records to administer and report on subscriptions. Declining optional analytics does not stop this processing or prevent you from using your account. Editorial websites explain their own advertising and audience measurement in their privacy and cookie notices.

Marketing choices are separate from account registration and subscription purchases. You can withdraw consent or unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time. We will still send service messages needed for your account or subscription. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before withdrawal.

6. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including where our companies and service providers operate. Where required, we use recognised transfer mechanisms and safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or contractual protections, to meet applicable data protection requirements. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

7. Retention and security

We keep your information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account information is normally retained while your account is active. Billing records may be kept after closure to meet tax and accounting requirements. Security records, support enquiries and usage information are retained according to their purpose, applicable obligations and any need to resolve disputes.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it, subject to necessary backup periods and legal requirements. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices and rights

You can update available profile details in your account, manage cookie preferences and unsubscribe from marketing communications. You can also contact us to request access to or correction of your information, or to close your account.

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to deletion, restriction or portability of your information, to object to processing based on legitimate interests and to withdraw consent. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Some information must be retained to meet legal obligations, and we may be unable to provide a service without information necessary to deliver it.

Optional analytics and marketing are not conditions of having an account or purchasing a subscription.

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us at privacy@nmenetworks.com so we can try to resolve it. You may also lodge a complaint with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Commission, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data protection authority, as applicable.

9. Children and policy updates

NME Account is not intended for children under 13. Subscription purchases require an adult. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information contrary to these requirements.

We may update this policy as our services or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised date and notify you of material changes where appropriate. If a new use of information requires your consent, we will ask for it.
